1. Just What I Needed
I have started purchasing wheat berries to grind my own flour. I needed a mill that was reasonably priced, but I wanted it to be able to operate in the event of a power outage. I decided on this model because there is an optional part coming out to make this electric powered as well.

The unit is very sturdy and grinds the berries very well. It takes a little work to crank enough flour, but my whole family comes running every time I start using this thing. Everyone wants a turn grinding berries and the kids are so fascinated that is how flour is made. I would estimate about 2 minutes per cup of flour, depending on how fast you can crank it.

I leave this mounted on my counter full time since I use flour everyday, but it is pretty compact and easy to store. After using this unit manually, I really don't know why people opt to grind their own flour, but then buy an electric mill. Using this grinder will have you going a step further than "made from scratch" and...

2. All in all Awesome
So far I've tried wheat and Corn through this mill and it works awesome, also easy to take apart and clean. The reason for 4 instead of 5 Stars is the Clamping mechanism could be alittle wider for more gripping area. That being said so far I am verry happy with this product.

LOVE THIS - Got fluffy flour while baby was napping.
I have been using a Rocket blender to grind flour. We bought a big bag of wheat berries and I thought it would be easy to grind. HA! It was so loud, I had to wear ear plugs and have my husband take the baby outside.

Enter - Victorio VKP1024 Deluxe Hand Operated Grain Mill - I had just put the (teething) baby down for a much needed nap. The doorbell rings... After silently cursing the poor timing of our UPS driver, I got super excited to see what the package was. I just ordered it yesterday! I opened it up, followed the directions for cleaning it and attaching to the counter and got my 1 cup of wheat berries ready. I hesitated.... what if it was loud and woke her up? I set the knob for fine flour and threw caution to the wind, I turned the crank. and... I got a little puff of flour and it was SOOOO quiet. I timed it, including time switching hands because my arms got tired, it took 4 minutes to grind a 1 cup measure of wheat berries. That 1 cup yielded 1 3/4...
