1. Nice but...
Shelves don't accommodate typical champagne bottle widths. Doesn't achieve minimum temp in warm garage, same garage presumably where the warmer feature would come into play. I don't see any obvious "not for use in a garage" advice on the web description, but clearly marked in the paperwork that accompanies the cooler?

2. Looks nice and works well
Based off of various reviews I've read of other units in this price point this seems to be one of the best options. A few complains I've noticed about other wine coolers are: the shelves are too small, the depth is too short and/or it's hard to get the bottle in/out.

In this unit, two standard bottles have plenty of space on each wired shelf. Enough that a (slightly) oversized bottle would still slip in. Additionally, there's about 1.5 inches between the end of a standard bottle and the inside glass (the glass is double pane for insulation). That means you can return a bottle partially corked or with some kind of oversized wine saver vacuum sealer and the door will still close properly. Finally, because the shelves have enough space, the bottles are easy enough to slid in and out. The racks don't slide in and out like some models however it's unnecessary since the bottles are so accessible.

This is a thermoelectric cooler which means, while there's no compressor...

ELectrical Panel Issues
The first unit I got never went below 54 degrees when placed in a cool room (65 degrees). Then the left side electrical panel went dark and took the left side cooling with it. The new unit I received seems to be working much better so far (will go down to 45 degrees on one side), but I've only had it for a couple days.

1. Tried them all...
I love the KitchenAid 9 speed mixer. I first tried the 5 & 7 speed (non-digital) ones but they have a sliding finger control knob that would accidentally slide past setting 1 to the other settings. The digital display on this model fixes that problem. Also, the low start-up speed is nice and SLOW like it should be. I tried Cuisinart and their low speed would ramp-up super fast when you first turn on the mixer before settling into it's official 1st speed. I had flour flying everywhere. I also tried Black & Decker Pro from Walmart for $20 which had great reviews but it had a slow speed that was much too fast. Same with Sunbeam. I'm very happy with this mixer and hope to use it for years to come.

2. So Far, So Good
Bought this (the 9-speed) because my old Hamilton Beach (96 watts) from the 80s started making an awful racket. Turned out the plastic cooling-fan blades had crystallized and broken off and were rattling around inside the case when the motor ran.

I was skeptical of this mixer because the wattage was even lower (72 watts), but, given my experience with KitchenAid products, the wonderful Classic stand mixer, the outstanding and very powerful 5-speed blender which quickly turns ice cream, straight from the carton, into a super-thick malt (no additional water or milk needed), and hand blender, I decided to give this hand mixer a try.

Its first, and so far only, task was to blend a 2-pound jar of strawberry preserves into 2.5-pounds of peanut butter in an old Pyrex mixing bowl (purchased years ago from K-Mart, and which yuppies apparently pay high prices for these days in "antique" stores). The mix has the texture of very thick cookie dough, and caused the old mixer...

Great mixer, but read the fine print!
If you've done your homework, you know this is a top-rated hand mixer. What you may not have realized yet is how these are packaged. It took me a few minutes to figure this out, but you should note that this mixer comes with all kinds of cool beaters, except one important one... the actual turbo beaters that you will use the most. I then noticed the special offering that combines the mixer and these necessary beaters for an additional $14 incl. shipping (second vender). How very clever! Turns out the configuration varies with the vender; the mixer is packaged different ways depending on who is selling it.

Also note, I inquired with KitchenAid about the differences between the 7 and 9 speed models. Turns out there are real difference is the RPM range; that is, the Hi/lo of each are different (see below), not just the same range, divided differently. Might be of use for buyers to publish this.

The cookbook holder is well constructed but most of the cookbooks I use don't fit, so it will probably not get used that much. Measure the cookbooks you use most before you order this item.

2. Sturdy and convenient
My wife received this for Christmas and I finally got to installing it yesterday. We love this thing! It's pretty sizable and sturdy to boot. The installation only took 5 minutes, which thrilled me to death! One thing that almost upset me was the fact that the instructions are printed on the template used for positioning and alignment. However, I realized that the template wasn't going to do me any good as we wanted the holder installed across 2 cabinets with a little lip in the middle where the cabinets met. This turned out to be a non-issue, though. I basically held the holder in place while my wife made pencil marks in the screw holes. It even turns out that that step wasn't really necessary either. The 4 screws that it uses to mount are pointed (self-tapping), so I was actually able to install the unit without drilling! Once installed, it worked great. When this cutting board arrived I took it out of its box, placed it over my stove top, laid my head on it and laughed from sheer joy.

It covers the top of my stove exactly. The wood is beautiful and warm.

You will love it!
I sent for this cutting board after reading the description and the reviews. This is my third bamboo board (other two small in comparison but still quite good) and I will never own any other kind. This one is a good size so be sure your kitchen will provide the space; but it is worth every penny. Bamboo is much less likely to stain and scratch. Best thing about it? I'll never have to buy another!

I bought this based on a recommendation in "Cook's Illustrated" magazine and season 2011 America's Test Kitchen equipment review video. I like the way it looks, it's a great size and thickness, and handles cutting very well, it has convenient hand-holds to lift and carry it. "Cook's Illustrated" said that the weight of the board kept it in place. My beautiful board, however, is not perfectly flat on either side, so it wobbles. I'm dealing with the problem the same way I have to for my cheaper cutting boards, non-skid pads underneath; not a great solution, but I'm keeping the board anyway. My package arrived crushed, the paper product information band torn off and crumbled laying beside the the board (how did that happen, I wonder). The packing tape was barely adhered to the box. What is happening to Amazon's shipping department, or do I blame a 3rd party...too much to think about, I just want to cut my veggies.

2. A Broken board due to very poor packageing
Two previous reviewers wrote they got cracked boards. Mine was not only cracked, but it was broken down the middle. The packaging was extremely poor! They did not try to package it properly; the board was placed in in big flat box, with nothing to hold it. Their loss percentage has to be high. They need a good dose of quality control!!

A life time buy
My wife turned me on this. And true to my nature, I did a lot of research before making a purchase. My instructions were to get a big durable cutting board. One that would not slide over the granite counter top. This cutting board weighs about 14 lbs and is 1 1/2" thick.. It isn't going any where. The instructions advise you to put 4 coats of mineral oil (That I bought at Wal-Mart for $1) prior to first use. A over night drying period and testing was under way. Solid, stable surface to work on and with a little care (mineral oil once a month) it will last a life time. Large enough to prepare the evening meal, and stable enough to insure safety with large knives.

I had researched hand mixers for a little while and I was just waiting for my old, cheap, loud hand mixer to die before I could convince my wife I needed a new one (she insisted on the pink color!). I was intending to buy the Kitchen-Aid because of its reputation, but I saw this product reviewed on Cook's Illustrated and it was rated just as high but significantly cheaper than the Kitchen-Aid. I used to use my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer for just about everything, but now that I have this great product, I will definitely be reaching for it more often than my cheaper hand mixer before this one!

2. Fantastic buy!
I had never owned a good quality mixer, despite being an avid baker. After receiving a gift certificate to Amazon I decided to apply it toward the purchase of a nice hand mixer.
After browsing thru many models and reading reviews, I finally decided on this 7 speed mixer. I was happy to get the Cuisinart Breast Cancer pink, since I am a survivor.
The first time I used it, I could hardly believe the power it has. I only took it up to the 3rd power level and it mixed very thick cookie dough. It made my holiday baking a breeze. There are so many things I used to have to mix by hand, but not now. The Power Select mixer handled everything with ease and I still have yet to use power level 7.
If you are looking for a heavy duty hand mixer that is fairly lightweight and has very easy to clean beaters, this is the mixer to buy.

1. Cute and well made, but impractical and flawed.
24 MAGNETIC JARS:
I bought these 24 jars with the metal wall plate, for hanging the jars somewhere other than the fridge. The glass body and metal lid of each jar is very solid, and the magnets are strong. They confidently hold onto the fridge or the mounting plate on a wall without even the hint of slipping. One thing I noticed right away was that the magnets are not glued (or affixed in any way other than magnetically) to the inside surface of the jar lids. This makes no difference in the magnet's strength or functionality but it does make the jars seem just a little "cheaper". One big downside of the jars is their size. I could not even get the contents of a 1 ounce store-bought spice bottle into a single jar. I purchased the magnetic set to free up cabinet space that I'd no longer need for spice bottles/jars. I didn't throw a single original spice bottle or jar away when I transferred to the magnetic ones. Also, when I arrange them in a honeycomb array, as...

2. Nice idea, but...
Fed up with the jumble in my kitchen cabinets, I looked on Amazon for spice racks. This seemed like a really cool and appealing option. But having used them for three weeks or so, I still have mixed feelings. I'm not disappointed enough to send them back, but I definitely wish I had bought something better suited to my needs.

The positive side is that they are indeed pretty cool. I have put them all on the side of my fridge, and people think they look neat. The uniformity and appealing shape of the jars plus the variety of spice colors make for a nice visual.

There are, however, a number of downsides.

The first is that these are tiny. When I read "1.5 oz jars", I looked at my spices and saw that none were more than 1.5 ounces. Great! Except that the jars are 1.5 fluid ounces, which is 3 tablespoons. I could fit circa a third of a normal jar of spices into these, so my kitchen cabinet still has a bunch of jars in it.

The more jars I started filling and placing the more I liked these little beauties. The lids seem to be holding up just fine for me. They don't see extensive use however. We recieved one for xmas one year and we have found that we use it a lot more than we thought. Pros: It cuts meat and cheese well for home use. One has to cut a ham in smaller pieces before using the unit, but the cut widths allow for several different settings, excellent for sandwich style or chunkier for stews. The unit comes apart easy for cleaning and is easy to reassemble. I believe that this unit is a good all purpose unit for the occational home use. Cons: Plastic back which determines the thickness of the cut is flimsy. One can not put alot of preassure on the back plate is as wobbles while you're cutting. The motor could be more powerful. One has to take your time cutting meats or sausage that are firmer. The unit moves as your cutting as it doesn't have the suction cups. The unit has nooks and cranies which makes it harder to clean. But overall, it was a great gift to receive.

2. Not what I expected
This food slicer doesn't have a plate or something to get the fruit juice and it is not easy to clean.
If you want to slice pineapple or mango you will have a spare leftover.
To slice watermelon, you have to push harder and the plastic holder breaks easily.

So far, after three uses, I have had no problems with my PastaDrive motor. I do have a couple reservations about giving a 5 star review though:

1. The motor housing is metallic-colored plastic, not metal like one might assume just from looking at the pictures of it online.

2. It does not feel extremely sturdy.

I have been using a rolling pin to get my dough almost as thin as the "0" setting before I roll it out with the machine. This way, the motor isn't getting stressed to it's maximum capacity -- it sounds like it is struggling if you push the dough through as thick as you would when using the manual crank, which is to say, just patted out with your hands. Frankly, I wish this thing were made with all metal parts, especially as it is so expensive.

2. plastic gears break
I have been making pasta for many years and about 4 years ago I decided to treat myself to a motor for my Atlas machine which was only a few months old at the time (older machine went to grandkids for clay). Needless to say the 3 year warranty is up and last night I was making noodles and the large plastic gear inside the motor broke. I don't use it often so certainly expected a lot more use out of it. Polymer Clay
This works wonderfully with polymer clay! It makes mixing colors a breeze. It used to take me a lot of effort to do it. It doesn't even require a clamp!!! I'm in love.

As for what other reviewers are saying, I hope that the plastic gears stay in place...I'm going to be gentle with it. It doesn't seem fragile to me, but I will be updating my review if I have trouble with it. For now, though? Five stars!!!

I never understand reviewers who complain about the design features of this very specialized product. Complaining that one of these doesn't have a flat bottom is like complaining that your Corvette doesn't have a back seat. Round copper bowls like this are specialized items made for one purpose: to whisk eggs whites (maybe that's why it's called an "egg white bowl?" maybe?), and the design is optimized for the best result when doing that one specific task. That means they're made out of copper, which involves extra work to clean, and they're spherical in shape because that shape matches the movement of a hand wisk, and hence you get more consistent, uniform mixing, and more egg contacting the copper than you do in a flat-bottomed bowl. As far as holding the bowl all the time, a) I always hold the bowl while I'm whisking egg whites whether the bottom is flat or not, and b) it doesn't take a degree in culinary science to figure out you can set one of these in a cereal bowl if you want...

2. Nothing can touch Mauviel whisking bowls
There's two ways to work this bowl: Either set it into a heavy ceramic mixing bowl as a "nest" or carry it in the crook of your arm with your thumb through the ring. Either way is comfortable. When nested in a ceramic bowl, this Mauviel is stable enough to tilt it toward your whisking hand so that you have an easier wrist angle than if you used an ordinary flat bottom bowl.

If you want to chill the ingredients, put cold water or water and ice in the ceramic nest bowl; if you want to warm the ingredients, use hot water in the ceramic nest bowl. 'Dem Frenchies ain't as dumb as we often like to think -- this works GREAT!

8-Inch is the smallest reasonable size for this type of bowl. Consider getting a larger one if you whip a significant quantity of egg whites. I have always found that egg whites beaten by an electric mixer were too foamy. Almost like soap bubbles. This copper bowl makes them creamy and appetizing. They are very stable and it simply makes fantastic merinque.

Why reinvent the wheel? People have been doing this for hundreds of years. It really doesn't take as long as you think, nor is it as difficult as you may think.

I was watching Sara's Secrets on the Food Network while Bill Yosses was the guest. I was very impressed with him so I borrowed his book Desserts for Dummies. In it, he says that a 12" diameter bowl is best while ~ 7qts is a good volume. He was correct. This bowl seemed huge, but when eight egg whites triple in volume, it fills it up by two-thirds. It is a fine size.

The copper is beautiful. I hang it over my kitchen.

I love this procuct!
I bought this product last year so I've been able to use it a lot. I've made applesauce, tomato sauce, pear sauce, grape juice and cranberry sauce in it. I found it works great for all my sauces. However, while making the grape juice I did not find it very helpful. A juicer would work better for juices. I've loaned this out to a few friends and they've loved it too. If you make a lot of sauces or do home canning, this is a must have.

I love this paper towel holder. We ordered one for our lake home largely because we were ordering other Nambe kitchen things. The curvy vertical bar swings outward to accept a large roll, it holds the towels very securely and the base is super heavy. I had an initial concern it wouldn't look really special once the paper towels were placed over the wood core, but the vertical bar is quite nice looking and about half or more of the loop shows. Important use point: I can yank a paper towel off with as much force as I wish and that holder isn't moving. It's far superior to the heavy based ones I've had before. I like it so well I ordered another one for our primary home.

We have a small farmers market business selling produce during the summer months in Idaho. Recently, we visited a much larger operation near Bristow, Oklahoma and saw how they utilized a salad dryer to spin dry various vegetables and salad mixes. Wish it could spin more items
We are also market farmers and bought this spinner to help eliminate water from our lettuce, salad mix, spinach, etc before packing for market.
We were not able to put head lettuce in the spinner as the heads are just too large to fit in the narrow drum inside. We have been able to spin loose leaf greens with success. I can't say if it would do well spinning beets or any other large bulbous items as mentioned by another reviewer. I don't think it would fit these items, but we haven't tried.
We feel it was a little too costly for the small amount of things we are able to use it with.

I have made pizza at home for years, tried regular old aluminum cookie sheets, clay pizza stones and now finally this All Clad soapstone. With use your stone will discolor. This happens with any stone. You also should not wash any stone with soap. Use hot water and a plastic scraper to clean. This is the only All Clad product I have that I can't get the stainless to sparkle like new. I think it's because I left it in the oven so much.

The pizza cutter that comes with this is the best I've ever used.

Because of its size, this product is great as a bake-and-serve/occasional baking stone. If you bake a ton, I suggest getting a larger stone and just leaving it the oven all the time.

Amazing!
Lets start of by saying that I worked in a pizzeria in New York making pies for some time. Pizza wheel that comes with it works excellent. Season the stone according to directions. Pre heat stone in oven for about 45 minutes at 500 degrees. Remember. Bake at the top of the oven. Always when baking bake at the top! make your pie and slide it onto the stone. I stretched the dough puting semolina down first on the cardboard that came with it. Helps to make the right size and semolina makes it slide right off onto the stone. I used all ingredients that I brought home from my favorite local pizzeria. The end result was nothing short of amazing. I never thought that I could get pizzeria quality pizza from my oven at home! As a matter of fact it came out better than the pies I made in the pizzeria oven! You must pre heat the stone first or your pizza will not be crisp on the bottom! I love pizza and can eat it all the time, even for breakfast! This pizza stone was well worth the purchase...

When I was shopping for a meat grinder, I first checked the reviews. This one didn't have many, but they were good, and since it is made of stainless steel, I decided to purchase it.

Since I have only used it once so far, I can't comment on longevity but it did a great job. I primarily purchased it to grind beef for hamburger, as I feel you never know what's in commercially packaged ground beef and I like my burgers rare. I ground about 12 pounds of meat twice and it never hesitated. The instructions tell you not to touch the grinder until it has cooled down but it got BARELY lukewarm when I used it. It might get hotter if you are processing an entire deer or something similar, but I don't think it would be a problem.

My daughter won this grinder in a charity raffle, so I didn't pay the full price for it. After using it however, I would say it is definitely worth the asking price. It is extremely well constructed and engineered. It grinds meat like crazy. I have used it to grind many geese that I turned into jerky. I've ground the trimmings of 2 whitetail deer. This grinder will usually take the meat as fast as you can feed it. I learned after the first time that I used it that it is best to cut the meat into strips 1" to 1-1/2" wide before you even start grinding so the machine won't have to wait for you. It seems like the auger is always hungry. When I did my most recent venison trimmings, after prepping the cuts, it only took a few minutes to grind close to 20lbs. I also used the large stuffing tube while I was grinding and packaged the ground venison as I was grinding it, which basically cut the processing time in half. Most of us cooks have more than 16 spices we use regularly, but that didn't occur to me when I bought my first set. The package of 96 labels for $1.95 from Wire Whisk goes nicely with these bottles. Again, 96 labels for only 16 bottles didn't get my attention initially, but you can avoid this problem by purchasing at least two sets of these bottles at the same time. Note: although these bottles come with both large and small hole shaker tops, the small size McCormick spices you get at the store have a shaker top which includes a flap that allows dumping spice quickly. The McCormick shaker tops perfectly fit these bottles, which is a nice plus.

2. They're Fine
What's there to say about them? The caps fit snugly, the glass isn't too thin, the shakers don't seem to fall off easily. This product is exactly as advertised.

Simply a great product. Nice jars. They come with lids and sifter tops - with holes in 2 sizes - 1/2 course and 1/2 fine. No labels so you make your own. Most of the spices I buy in the jar fit 6 to a row on my spice rack, these fit 7. I have many spices, so this makes me happy.

I have owned a large Orange-X juicer for two winters, and I recently bought a mid-size juicer as a gift. I am the author of the "Best juicer, April 8, 2001" review for the large Orange-X. My Orange-X has withstood the test of time as a daily habit during orange season. Think how many kitchen appliances gather dust next to the rowing machine; daily use is the ultimate testimonial. The habit I've settled on is to rotate a bowl of several varieties of citrus into the fridge for the next glass, and squeeze one glass at a time. 2. Not great for lemons
I bought this juicer for home use on the basis of good Amazon reviews--but only to juice lemons and limes and this review only addresses these fruits. If I didn't use a Waring twist juicer at work, I wouldn't have recognized the difference. It turns out the twist juicer definitely extracts more juice from a lemon--it breaks all the membrane and just leaves the shell--virtually dry. The press method squashes the lemon--there is still quite a bit of juice left, which I end up squezzing by hand. Also the head on the orange x is larger than the twist juicer, which may be fine for an orange, but is too large to apply equal pressure for a lemon--much less for a lime. I always end up having to reposition the lemon and press again. I e-mailed orange x before buying the juicer to ask them specifically about this--they never replied but I went ahead and bought it anyway. This mid sized Orange-X citrus juicer is a very nice heavy duty juicer that works well and is attractive on the counter. This very heavy so called mid-sized Orange-X juicer is still plenty large for commercial or home use. It is easy to use and clean.

It squeezes a variety of different sized citrus well including small grapefruit, normal sized oranges, and lemons. From reading other reviews, manufacturers apparently must make assumptions about the ideal size for the strainer cup. This juicer's strainer cup seems to be maximized for oranges. Other reports that I have read on other models, often that say they are better with lemons for instance, but then go on to say that the same juicer is less than ideal for other larger citrus such as oranges, small grapefruit, etc.

I myself have had no trouble juicing lemons at all as some others claimed. In fact, juicing lemons is primarily what I use this juicer for (it excells at oranges too). I feel those claims...

The John Boos (JB) 20 x 15 x 2.5 cutting board is a necessary addition to any home cook. I finally retired the one I had used for 25 years. It still looked good because I kept it conditioned......I just wanted a new toy. The other one went to Good Will so someone can get another 25 years out of it. I cannot imagine carving a roast without my JB. My Wusthof knives shred composite boards as well as cutting mats. According to the latest information I have read, composite boards harbor more bacteria.

2. Substantial cutting board.
The John Boos 20 x 15 x 2.5 cutting board is exactly what I've been looking for. I use it constantly. It is thick, will not move around on the counter while in use and has a deep channel which comes in handy when carving meat. The board is a permanent item on the counter. Love it!

Excellent board
Works very well, which is to say it does nothing when I use it. It just stays there, doesn't slide around, and doesn't show wear after a month of moderate-to-heavy use.

2.25 inch thickness seems to be about right to preempt warping and to give it the needed weight.

HINT: Before ordering, take your present cutting surface and raise it to the 2-1/4 inch height of this board, just to make sure you are comfortable with adding that extra height to your counter top. It makes a difference, but one that most people should adapt to easily.

Amazon fulfillment didn't do that great a job though. Mine came poorly wrapped, and with a resultant small dent.

7/26/2013 It's now 6 month later, and I am still very pleased with the cutting board. REMEMBER TO OIL IT REGULARLY, but no need to do so with the horribly over-priced Boos mineral oil.

Swissmar truly is the best cheese fondue pot brand. I'm Swiss so I know what real fondue pots are supposed to look like and how they're supposed to function. You need to be able to cook the fondue on the stove then transfer the pot to the fondue burner; this pot works perfectly and looks great. Swissmar also includes a fondue recipe that isn't perfect but is great for fondue beginners. A tip I definitely recommend though is to buy the fondue fuel online too, it's the blue fondue gel; it's very hard to find in the average supermarket, and the one most commonly found is the kind you have to scoop out of a can which isn't as good and a total pain in the butt.

There are a few irks that I feel I must list though:
1. The pot handle looks different from the picture, it's not completely round, but shaped like a half-moon: the top is round, but the bottom is flat.
2. The fondue forks included aren't really the typical fondue forks, they're fatter and have three prongs...

We got two large beach balls in the same order, one from US Games, and this one from Big Mouth Toys. The US Games ball is made of heavy plastic, it has a nice rope attached to it, and it is the stated size.

This one was a disappointment. It's a nice, large ball—but the plastic is just a slightly heavier version of the usual beach ball plastic; it won't hold up very well, I fear. (It is also very static-y, which for us is a plus - we intended to use it for motion experiments, but we'll use it for static electricity experiments instead.) And it is NOT 12 FEET ACROSS. It's 8 feet, perhaps 9. If you look at the picture, you can see that it is clearly edited. I am not sure where they got the 12 foot number. This isn't the radius, the diameter or the circumference.

So, it's kind of cool, but it's not very sturdy and it is not as big as advertised. We'll keep it because it does great static stuff. But if you want a large ball to play with on the beach, don't get...

A marvelous decoration
I got this ball to use as a display piece at our family fun entertainment center. Nice to look at, makes us look cooler, technically available for tickets while we don't realistically expect that to happen for a long time. I haven't cared to measure what actual size it is (since other reviewers claim it's not 12"), but it definitely does the job I wanted it to do. There were some awkward things about it, though. First, The "repair kit" is just a tiny square of plastic you can cut to repair very tiny holes. For the size, this is not likely to be very useful, as any punctures you get will probably be much larger.
Second, it specifically says not to use an air compressor. I don't know what kind of power they're expecting anyone to use with their air compressors, but ours provided about 60 psi without any problems. It took me about 90 mins. to blow the thing up with that, largely because the nozzle is RIDICULOUSLY HUGE! I had to use some putty to plug up the extra space so I...

This is a gorgeous knife. As soon as it arrived I was in awe of it. I also love the handle, it fits in the hand very well, and lets you grip outside of the danger zone of the backside of your knife. The blade is razor sharp, I have no doubs that a fast swing could cleanly remove a finger (bone included).

Now to the dissapointing part of this knife. After only having the knife for about a week, I was cleaning it and tapped the side of my sink. Not hard, not even enough to make me take a second look at the knife. Then when I put it up I saw it, the tip bent, not bad, but enough to notice. Having a lot of experience with knives, I just kind of frowned and give it a light push back into place. With almost no force applied the tip snaps off. Now I'm officially upset, for a knife of this price I expect much more. Again, I shrug it off becaause it's nothing I can't have ground down. Now I'm treating the knife with kit gloves, not even so much as washing it with a rough sponge...

Great for slicing. I am not as comfortable using for peeling as with smaller knives, but still often my first choice for many tasks.

2. Amazingly sharp, to the "point" of being dangerous
Superb knife for paring purposes and general small-scale kitchen work. But seriously, you need to get used to a knife this sharp, especially with a point this extreme. Do keep away from the reach of children. Unlike most ceramic knives with rounded points, this one will literally cut you the first time you use it. Arguably not for the amateur chef, but I suspect the typical user will soon become accustomed to the fact that even the most ordinary handling error will draw blood! Otherwise: build quality, edge, fit to the standard chef's hand--really outstanding, and worth your investment.

I've now been using this wine fridge for about 4 months. I like the seperate doors, so you don't have to open the whole thing to get to just one side. The capacity is good for the size of the unit, and the bottle trays are easy to slide for the middle bottle. Overall it is a well-designed unit for both under counter and free-standing.

The only problem I notice is that the temperatures seem to vary quite a bit. I have it set for 65 and 45. I have seen the 65 side range from 62-68 and the 45 side vary from 42-49. This seems like a pretty wide range for the unit, even when nobody is opening the doors for a week or more. With finer wines that are more sensitive to the small fluctuations, this might be a problem. For my selection of mid and slightly upper bottles, I think it's probably ok.

The other thing I would like to see in this unit is better lights. The lights at the top get blocked by the top row of bottles. The lighting should be arranged to show each...

I've had this little salt mill for nearly ten years now. It has performed reliably with every kind of salt I've put in it from kosher, Himalayan, French, etc. - and always a perfect grind. Easy to adjust the knob for however coarse or fine I would like the salt to be. The brushed aluminum is quite heavy - looks and behaves like stainless steel. The front chute makes it easier to load than the ones you have to unscrew the tops for.

I've changed decor, dishes and even homes over the years and this classic always looks great with whatever I choose to pair it with; I use it on the table as well, having long since retired ordinary salt shakers. Doesn't get gummed up if I have to hold it over a steaming plate.

I bought this thinking it would be so much easier than a knife....wrong! it mushed my tomatoes, barely cut my onions. And this is with brand new blades! Ended up giving it to Habitat for humanity. Did not want to put it on ebay due to the dull blades. Waited too long to return it to amazon. Stay away from this one. Ended up buying a swissmar v slicer, cheaper, and works beautifully!

2. Great overall but could be improved.
I love the compactness, ease of use, ergonomics, and durability of this mandolin. However, the large support does not lock into place when it is folded and has a tendency to flop around when being handled. I would recommend some kind of tension lock similar to the one on the short support to keep it in check. I also feel that having the main slicing blade perpendicular to the slicing direction reduces the ease of cutting. Possibly an angle to the blade would make slicing denser tubers such as beets easier. I have a plastic Bron mandoline that has a "V" blade that slices much easier than the MIU slicer.

Go from slice to julienne just by turning the knob!
There are no blades to change out when you want to julienne. All the necessary blades are firmly attached in the mandoline. By removing four (quality-made) cap nuts you can remove the flat slicing blade to sharpen it. If you don't want to sharpen it yourself, the company sells replacement blades. Everything (except for handle, knob, foot grabs and safety guard)is quality stainless steel of a nice thick gauge.

I also have (and had it first) a OXO mandoline with a V slicer. There are too many steps involved in changing out blades to create a julienne cut or a waffle cut, so I just didn't bother doing either--just did straight slicing with the OXO. Now, with this new super-duper mandoline I think I will go julienne-crazy for a while.

Just by turning the knob you can send the mandoline through its paces: From its lock/zero position, turn the knob clock-wise and you are at the position to do a small 1/8" julienne; turn knob again and it will click into position...

I needed a way to keep drinks cool when entertaining, and this item was just the thing. It is very attractive and man, did it work! The drinks stayed cool, and I kept refilling the tub and the ice and cold water stayed cold for over 6 hours! No condensation dripping down my kitchen counters, either. A great solution for a common problem.

1. Why didn't we order this sooner?!
My husband and I were avid drinkers of Perrier, San Pelligrino, etc. We heard about the home water carbonators and did our research before purchasing the SodaStream. It was the best price and had a convenient exchange program for the CO2 cartridges. It's so easy and convenient - we fill the bottles with filtered water, carbonate, and refrigerate. I truly believe a kid could do it. We bought a package deal that came with some soda and natural fruit flavors. I don't know about the soda flavors (we don't drink soda), but the all natural lemon-lime and orange flavors are great. We are saving so much money and so much hassle not having to buy and haul bottles of water home, it's amazing. Not to mention, how much it lessens our environmental impact! If you are a carbonated water addict like me, I highly recommend this product!!!

2. Great item
After many reviews and a few videos, I decided to take the plunge and buy one the these. I had it narrowed down to a few good reasons.
1. It saves plastic (my household drinks a ton of seltzer and a good bit of soda)
2. I can control what goes into my fizzy drinks (both filtered water and the mix I decide to use)
3. In the long run (verrrry long run) I will save money. ( it costs about the same for about the first year or so as buying from the store so it is not more expensive, just doesn't save a ton of money at first)
4. It seemed like a fun project to keep everyone happy

I ended up buying it from a local Bed Bath and Beyond because I had a 20% off coupon. As far as taste goes, the mixes are ok, however they use splenda so they have a strange after taste. What a fun way to make your own sparkling water or flavored soda! I first saw these types of machines while an exchange student in Germany 12 years ago. I loved my host family's soda machine, and even contemplated buying one back then. I figured at the time that I would have trouble finding a way to refill the CO2 tank, so I ended up not buying one. Now that I finally have one, I truly love it. The machine is very easy to use, and kind of fun too. Now I drink sparkling water whenever I want, or add it to fruit juice to give it a little fizz. I don't buy soda at the store anymore, I enjoy making it at home too much! I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone.
